Years of skating?
About 21 years.
What was the first thing that made you want to be a skater?
I saw two dudes skating on cheap boards by my house when I was about 10 years old, I was staring at them cruzing around the car park, I knew I wanted to try it so bad, so my friend's parents got him a board and we would share it, sitting on it and going down hills, we did that for about six months and then my parents got me a cheap board too and that was it, I was hooked.
What were the best trips you went on thanks to skateboarding?
Everywhere I go, it's amazing to think I have traveled around the world many times thanks to skateboarding. China, Japan, all over the States, all over Europe, Canada, everywhere... Going to new places that you would never get the chance to go is the best.
How is it to hang out with the rest of the team?
The team is super cool, everyone has also traveled a lot and is super chilled to hang out with. We all get along well so that makes easier for some funny times and good memories.
What is your daily life like?
Very busy, being a father of two girls, skating, running a shop, painting and designing, spending hours on the phone and emailing, drinking coffee, riding my bike and sleeping late...
A perfect day, what would it be like?
To lie in bed and not have an alarm waking me up, sunny weather and some time at the beach, hanging with friends and eating good food, relaxing and not thinking about anything, then winning the lotto...
What kind of advice you would give to a skater who wants to pop as high as you?
Just skate and whatever is gonna be will be, just have fun and do what comes naturally, and if you want to ollie high it's all in the back leg.
If there was an official high ollie world champ, do you think you could do higher than your record?
I'm not sure about that one, I know I have done higher but not for a while anymore, if I would practice a little then I might be able to. There's only one way to find out I guess...
What’s the best thing about being a dad?
Seeing my girls smile and be happy, to see them grow into little people with strong personalities and to see how clever and smart they're becoming. It's the best and crazyest feeling ever. They're the best! I couldn't love them more than I do!
Which feeling/trick is the best in skateboarding?
The best feeling is to cruize down a smooth road with some friends, popping up and off the curb and sliding around, no tricks just pure skateboarding, that's the best.
What do you do when you’re not skateboarding?
A lot of stuff, I am really into fixed gear bikes and ride everyday, I also like to paint and draw a lot and to design things. I spend time with my girlfriend Ingrid and of course hang out with the girls.
What do you like the most in the Vans shoes?
Everything, if I didn't ride for Vans I would still wear them, I even buy Vans from stores sometimes when there's a pair I want that I can't get hold of from Vans. The best skateshoes there is, fullstop.
What would be your life like without skateboarding?
That's something I don't want to think about! Very different for sure!
What does really matter in life?
Love and respect, honesty and loyalty. You have to love your life and do the best you can with it, also be thankfull for what you have and head for the things you want, you only have one life so sitting on your ass is going to get you nothing. Life throws some fucked up things at you sometimes but it's all about getting through that and being happy...
